There were a number of volunteers who also lent their hands in the effort. On the 8th January 2005, PPNBD held a soft send-off ceremony of the donations which was officiated by Pehin Dato Hj Ali, The President of PPNBD and also witnessed by Pehin Dato Hj Hussin, The Chief Scout. Prior to this, there have been regular visits to the headquarters by both of them to show their support towards this humanitarian effort. This is the first shipment of donation out from Negara Brunei Darussalam and PPNBD is proud to be the first one to do this. The event was widely covered by the media. On that day, Brunei Liquefied Natural Gas (BLNG) donated tens of boxes containing clothings and also a cash donation amounting to B$35,000.00 (Thirty Five Thousand Dollars). HSBC and Brunei Shell Petroleum also donated clothings and foodstuff. In terms of cash, it is estimated that approx B$60,000.00 (Sixty Thousand Dollars) has been collected as at 8th January 2005. The donations for clothings will beclosed on the 10th January 2005 although it was announce earlier that it will be until the 31st January 2005. This is due to amount of items which PPNBD has received. Meanwhile donations for cash can still be made until 31st March 2005. Even after the 13 container has left, PPNBD still have almost the same amount of items to be sorted and sent to the victims.
